Under the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 public authorities are required to provide the Office of Equal Opportunity with:

  • yearly data about the profile of their workforce
  • a current equal employment opportunity (EEO) management plan

Workforce profile information is collated and reported in the Annual Report of the Director of Equal Opportunity in Public Employment.

EEO management plans describe how the agency plans to ensure that the objects of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 will be achieved within the authority.

Equity and diversity plan objectives
(public sector agencies only)

Government departments and statutory authorities that employ more than 50 employees are also required to develop performance objectives for groups covered by the Equity and Diversity Plan for the Public Sector Workforce 2006–2009.
