22 March "Institutional Racism- an individual and organisational response"

Professor Charles Husband from the University of Bradford, conducts a special workshop on ‘Institutional Racism – an individual and organisational response’.

Professor Husband is an important contributor to contemporary research, social analysis and dialogue on racism and cultural diversity for developing policy and practice.

Part 1 - Understanding ethnic diversity and the management of difference

This includes definitions of ethnicity and definitions of racism. It will demonstrate how, in order to address discrimination, we need to be clear about our position on ethnic diversity. It examines UK and French case studies to show differing national perspectives, and then lead into the politics of difference.

The workshop then examines the problematic question of institutional racism.

Part 2 - Institutional Racism – an organisational Response

The second part of the workshop will walk participants through the practical challenge of developing an organisational response to the task of eliminating institutional racism.
